Jocelyn is doing this, Julie is doing this, and I am doing this. We are all also members of a book club where we do not all read the same book. But read what we want and then recommend books to each other. So having a knit-along where we are not doing the same thing actually feels normal.
So before we begin these shawls, we decided that we need to finish up what is currently on-needle. For me that is the Cara sweater, Shared Borders sweater, DeColores sweater, and a Round Trip sweater.
As of yesterday, I have one down. I finished the Cara sweater!!So now all I have to do is knit two more strips and seam the DeColores, do the sleeves on the Round Trip, and the Shared Borders..., well I only have the back and 1/4 of one front completed. Our goal is to start the shawls the week between Christmas and New Years.
I do think I can get these done by then - maybe. I was thinking I could mine available knitting time by: sending IOUs for Christmas gifts, hire a driver to take me to and from work, serve only sandwiches for meals, stop taking showers, and teach my feet to knit (this one seems a bit iffy).
It just occurred to me that I finished all my knitted Christmas gifts last month so that I wouldn't be under any knitting pressure at the end of the year.

I thought your knitalong doesn't start until the retreat, which gives you a whole extra week.
The Cara sweater looks lovely!
