I was so proud, and then reality struck!

I was busy knitting this Thanksgiving weekend. I knitted through the Macy's parade and the dog show, several movies, and countless TV shows. I try to use long weekends to finish up projects. Here is what I worked on over this long weekend.

I started this 3 years ago. I recently found it in a knitting bag and realized it was 3/4 finished. I had stopped knitting on it because it made my hands hurt. What I discovered is that in 3 years my skills have improved and instead of being hard to do, it was fun. (I finished this a few days before Thanksgiving.)

Over Thanksgiving I did another one!

And started a third.

I also finished the front of this (the back is already done) and started the sleeve.

Then I finished this. I really felt good about all I had accomplished, which was a big mistake. As the Yarn Harlot says, the knitting universe MUST have balance. Anytime you're proud of your knitting, something comes up and smacks you in the head.

Take a look at what I discovered when blocking the sweater! Notice that on the right the sleeve seam goes into the band, this is correct. But look on the left, the sleeve seam goes into the back. Wrong WRONG WRONG. This causes the sweater to not hang correctly.

Errrrrrr.... I have to wait for this sweater is completely dry, then frog the sleeve and reknit it. The sleeves are knit by picking up stitches. So it's not a matter of removing the sleeve and sewing it in correctly. OH no, I must frog it and reknit. The funny thing is this isn't the sleeve I made this weekend. I made this mistake 2 weeks ago.

But I guess we can all be comforted that the knitting universe is in balance again.

I'm glad the knitting world is in balance because of your effort, although I don't think it's fair you have to reknit that sleeve.

(am I the only one keep leaving comments on your blog. Makes me feel almost like a peeping Tom, but I really like the projects you pick.)

As I always say, knit, rip, knit, it's all knitting in the end.
