In January I finished my Julia's shawl from Alison Jeppson Hyde's book Wrapped in Comfort. I will wear this at the Stitches West 2008 student banquet. I loved knitting this. It was made with Jade Sapphire Cashmere-Silk 2-ply, which is wonderful wonderful yarn. Yummy!Alison is a member of the South Bay Knitters group. Her book was released in June of 2007 and the SBK decided to surprise her and everyone knit something from her book and model them at Stitches West 2008. I know of at least 10 shawls that will be modeled. My mother-in-law Pat is coming this year to Stitches, so I am knitting her a scarf from that book so that (if she wants to) she can model with us. This is the Zinnia scarf from Alison's book. It calls for bulky yarn so it's a quick and fun knit (easy pattern). I used Plymouth Royal Cashmere held double.
I also finished my Stripe up the Band sweater by Candace Eisner Strick. I started this in Oct. It's made with Cascade 220 (the solid color) and Lorna's Laces Shephard (the original Lorna's yarn). I really like this sweater but it's only the knit stitch, which can get a bit old.My Ravelry invitation came in Dec. I didn't really do anything on there until last week (all thanks to a demo by Vivian). It's was a bit overwhelming at first, but with help from Vivian and Jocelyn I have starting adding projects and yarn to Ravelry. It really is fun to be able to take a break at work and see your stash.
