Truly Wonderful!

Last week I finished my cashmere shawl (this is the cashmere I bought in New York). It’s soft as butter, lightweight, and when you put it on, you feel like you’re getting a warm loving hug. It’s truly wonderful.

I’ve also been working on my silk jacket and my fairisle sweater. My silk jacket is going well (although I did knit the first front 3 times .. errrrr). I have the back and both fronts done and I have cast on and started both sleeves.

My fairisle is another story. I’m 2 inches above where I started the steek for the arm hole and it’s time to start the placket. The instructions were written for both knitting it flat and knitting it in the round. I’m knitting it in the round. For the placket, the instructions say to follow the instructions for knitting the placket flat. But that means that I would then be knitting back and forth, not in the round. How odd. This pattern uses steeks for the sleeves, why wouldn’t it use steeks for the placket?!!@#%$*!! I guess because the designer didn’t want to write instructions on how to add a steek for the placket. –sigh– So now I get to figure that out.

I know how to knit across where you are going to steek, but I don’t know if there is something else I need to do. BUT I’m really lucky and grateful that I have a group of knitters where I can take this project and they will help me write this part of the pattern. We meet the 4th Thursday in the month. So I don’t even have to wait very long before I can start knitting again on the fairisle.

In the mean time, I’ll work on my charity baby sweater and the silk jacket.

Guess I would continue to steek the sleeves but go back and forth for the placket. Beautiful shawl, love the color changes!
