Outside is Done

Well the house construction is progressing. And except for the yard work and lights, the outside is finished.

The stucco is done, the house is painted, and we have a garage door that works!!! However, we can't park in the garage because it is being used as a workshop.

As for the inside - sigh. Things on the inside always seem to go slowly. One issue is we've been living with no heat except for the upstairs bedroom, bath and office. This week has been tough because it's getting in the 20s at night so it's 40 in the house. But last night, they turned on the heat. I am so grateful to feel warm air. Funny how we take so much for granted until it's gone.

But much has been done on the inside too. Come, walk with me and I'll show you our project.

We are standing in the living room where the Steinway, which we have named Cleo, with be. We are looking back into the house. On the right is the door to the foyer.

Now we are standing on that ladder you saw in the previous picture and looking in the opposite direction. You can see part of the area where Cleo will live. The woodwork is masked because Monday they start the staining of all the wood in the house.

Now we are looking up. We are building an English Manor style house. All of these beams have been hand hewned to look rough cut. The man we have doing this is truly an artist.

We are standing at the bottom of the ladder looking back at the area for Cleo.

We are now looking out of the living room into the dining room.

But I must look back once more just to see all those magnificent beams.

Now we are walking toward the dinning room from the living room. Again we have the wonderful beams.

Stepping just inside the room, we look up. You can see the power outlets for the two chandeliers. These are being specially made for us.

And this is looking from the kitchen into the dining room. The picture is poor because I was shooting into the light from the windows.

Stay tuned! I will post more.
